Rich was born and raised in Southern California due to his parents' poor geographic planning.
He started working with the public at age six, when his grandfather Harry dragged him to the Orange Swapmeet to sell brushes, combs, and gloves out of the back of a long, long, long blue Ford LTD II. Harry was the child of Russian immigrants, a Depression-era kid who built something from nothing through door-to-door sales and sheer refusal to quit. He taught Rich how to read people, how to hold a price, and how to keep showing up.
He also taught Rich something that has guided every professional decision he's made since: time in beats timing. Every single time.

After attending Chapman University — graduating with two degrees for the price of one — Rich went to work for Wells Fargo Bank, then transitioned into the residential mortgage industry with IndyMac. He was building something. A career, a reputation, a life.
Then 2008 arrived. The mortgage industry didn't slow down. It collapsed. And Rich lost almost everything he'd built.
He rebuilt it from a laptop at a Starbucks. One client at a time. With complete integrity and no shortcuts. He applied for jobs stocking shelves at Walmart — overnight shifts. They wouldn't hire him. Overqualified. He went back to the Starbucks.
It took a few years before what he was making could honestly be called an income. But the foundation he built during those years — of integrity, of honest advice, of putting clients first — is the foundation his practice still runs on today.

When asked what brought Rich to Texas from Southern California, he usually answers: a Ford Expedition.
He has been in Houston ever since. Southwest Houston specifically — a community he serves not just professionally but personally.

Over three decades, Rich has helped thousands of clients navigate the mortgage process — first-time buyers, self-employed borrowers, real estate investors, families, veterans, and everyone in between. His superpower, if he has one, is asking better questions. And showing up in person. Especially when things get complicated.
He is the author of Buy a Home, Be a Hero, How to Get a Mortgage When Your Tax Return Says No, and Ordinary People. Serious Wealth. Each book came from the same place: a desire to give ordinary people the information the system was never designed to hand them.

Rich volunteers with individuals with special needs and dispatches for Hatzalah, the volunteer emergency medical service. He shows up — often in his truck — whenever someone needs a hand.
He lives in Southwest Houston with his incredible wife of eleven years, four dogs (Beau, Jelly, Layla, and Her Highness the Duchess of York Peppermint Patties), and enough fish tanks that his wife has stopped counting. He loves to cook.
Whether you need a loan, a laugh, or a lead on great coffee — Rich is your guy.
